Holiday Model Trains Exhibit, 2003

In December 2003 and January 2004 Roots held its first annual holiday model train exhibit. At the opening Santa arrived on Mason County Logging Company Engine #7 and then sat on the pilot in front of the boiler for photographs with children of all ages.

Chris Baldo, president of Roots, decorated a special themed Christmas tree with an incredible collection of train ornaments he has been amassing for years. Cliff Ott spent several months building a model layout of a logging operation, complete with railroad, sawmill and loggers village, which was on display in the Engine House. Model trains gathered from local collectors were showcased in the Redwood Empire Railroad History wing of the Mendocino County Museum.
