Bay City Crane

Vrain C. Conley of Healdsburg, a Roots member for several years, has donated to Roots of Motive Power a Bay City Crane, Model Number 25. This crane was manufactured in 1938 and was first sold by Garfield & Co. of San Francisco, CA. It was equipped with a boom and a ditcher.

Vrain says, to the best of his knowledge, it has been working in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties since it was first purchased. It has been used for digging ponds, loading logs, building bridges and working on many other construction sites. He purchased it in November of 1997 and spent several months rebuilding it. He decided it could be put to good use at the Roots display area in Willits.
